Job Search step three:
Take action and Contact
After you have developed a list of employers who you
want to work for, the next step is to contact them.
1. Whether or not an employer has job openings, you
should consider sending a resume and a cover letter,
specifically a “letter of inquiry” ((it is appropriate to
email as well as to mail a hard copy).
2. Call them to establish the name, email address
and phone number of the appropriate person to contact. Although
they will probably pass your details onto human resources, they
will be the best judge of whether or not you have something to
offer the company.
3. The direct approach is generally preferred when
you are targeting specific companies and are not afraid to be
direct in stating your goal of setting up an interview..
In Australia, employer prefer
to have a frank and honest staff. Please make sure you have
polite conversation and be patient while you try to contact any
potential employer and clearly state your intention and the
purpose of the call.
